Croatia vs Australia

Australia made history by twice coming from behind against Croatia to earn the point they needed to claim a place in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

A 2-2 draw with Croatia was enough to secure second place in Group F and a second-round tie against Italy. Australia finished with four points from three matches, two clear of third-placed Croatia.

Croatia opened the scoring through Srna’s second-minute free-kick. Moore drew Australia level from the penalty spot on 38 minutes but the balance swung back Croatia’s way when Kovac’s shot was fumbled by Australian keeper Kalac in the 56th minute. Harry Kewell struck the decisive second Australian goal 11 minutes from time.

The match certainly did not start well for Australia. Within just 2 minutes amid a spine-tingling atmosphere, Croatia's Srna curled a fantastic superb free-kick from 25 metres and over the top of the wall past Australia's giant goalkeeper.

1-0 to Croatia.

38th mitnue and Australia strikes! Moore stepped up for the penalty shot and made no mistake sending the Aussie fans into raptures.

The score now 1-1.

Croatia started the second half very strong and a goal was in the air. In the 56th minute Croatia's  Kovac sent a weak shot at Kalac, who fumbled the ball into the net.

2-1 to Croatia

Then magic... on the 79th minute Kewell was not to be denied. Aloisi flicked on a cross with his head and Kewell blasted a volley into the corner.

What a night of unforgettable drama! Both
sides could have progressed to the second round at different stages,
but it was Australia who heading to
Kaiserslautern to face Italy.

The final score 2-2.
