Brazil's 2014 World Cup bid

Already favourites to host the event, Brazil's soccer federation will today official launch its bid to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Officials from the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) have confirmed they will notify world governing body FIFA today of their intentions to bid for the event.

Courtesy of the rotation policy introduced to hosting the tournament, South America is assured of the event after South Africa hosts 2010.

CBF president Ricardo Teixeira will meet with FIFA officials during the Club World Cup in Japan.
