Adelaide vs Melbourne

Melbourne Victory took a fighting 3-1 victory over Adelaide in front of a sell-out crowd at Hindmarsh Stadium that had came to see legendary Brazilian Romario make his mark on the Australian league.

However it was the other two Brazilians, Melbourne's Fred and Adelaide's Fernando, who sparked the drama in the fast-paced game. Both teams were reduced to ten men early in the game, which meant there was more space available, and it was Adelaide behind by one goal that was able to exploit the space better. At this stage of the game an equaliser looked inevitable, and it came in the 42nd minute by Fernando's header. However Melbourne Victory kept fighting and goals on the 62nd and 86th minutes put Victory 3-1 up and beyond Adelaide's reach.
