2010 FIFA World Cup

New South Wales premier Morris Iemma suggested that Australia could act as the fallback option to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament sparking fury in host nation South Africa.

There are ongoing speculation that South Africa will not be ready to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Football Federation Australia however said it had no reason to expect that the 2010 FIFA World Cup will take place anywhere other than South Africa. And wished South Africa every success in staging the world's largest sports event.
