2006 FIFA World Cup a massive boost to German football

Hosting the 2006 FIFA World Cup provided a massive financial boost to German football.

The German Football Association and German Football League will each receive a sum of €28.25 million after the German Football Association reported profit of €135 million from the organising and staging of the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Germany also enjoyed a boost due to increased tourism and retail figures from hosting the World Cup.
