Carle for Australia

I read with amusement about how Newcastle Jets midfielder Nick Carle should be playing more often for Australia and how he is the most technically gifted player in the Hyundai A-League.

What exactly has Carle achieved thus far this season apart from that impressive strike against Adelaide?

Without taking nothing away from the goal, the lad ran 2 miles with the ball and then still had the power in his shot, which normally doesn't happen, but it was more luck than skill or class to find the back of the net.

36 year old Benito Carbone, who played two and half games for Sydney FC, has made more of an impact on the A-League than Nick Carle has during his career.

I have watched Carle play a few times this season and for one who apparently has all this talent, he is not showing it on a consistent basis. And i put that very politely.

Like i said, his goal was a ripper, his level of fitness impressive, being the final minute of the game to run 70 yards at top speed and still have the power in your shot is not easy. Watch the A-League or English Premier League, players consistently run 30 yards and they can't get any power in their shot.

Carle needs to produce at a consistent level over a period of time and there is a place for him in the Socceroos side, until he can do that, he will have to watch the Socceroos from the sidelines.

For the position Carle plays, there are a couple of other A-League players who exert more influence on a game and have done so consistently this season.

How can you pick Carle before them? You can't, and they aren't getting picked by Graham Arnold for the Socceroos.
