Bayern Munich pulling out of the G-14
German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich is reported to be considering pulling out of the G-14, the group of Europe's leading clubs, over concerns the lobbying group is failing to achieve results for its members or for the game as a whole.
Bayern were among the founder members of the G-14, formed in 2000. The aim was to promote the interests of Europe's top clubs, with regard to issues such as distribution of TV income from the Champions League and compensation for players injured on international duty.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich's chairman, said Bayern would consider whether it should remain a G-14 member, but added, "I doubt whether the G-14 is meaningful any longer. I find that too little is happening. There is no communication with FIFA or UEFA."
