Melbourne Victory too strong for New Zealand Knights

Runaway Hyundai A-League leaders Melbourne Victory turned on the power in the second half of their Friday night clash against the New Zealand Knights FC spanking the hosts 4-0 with three goals coming in the second stanza.

Ernie Merrick's men are cruising to their first minor round title thanks to their striking duo of Archie Thompson and Daniel Allsop.

They are proving to be the most feared partnership in the Hyundai A-League this season with both getting their name on the scorers sheet again on Friday night.

The Knights tried hard but a difference in class proved to be a telling factor after Brazilian import Fred gave the visitors a 1-0 halftime lead.

Melbourne Victory 4 (Fred 8, Thompson 57, Caceres 59, Allsop 71)
