Corica cops extra two game ban

Sydney FC midfielder Steve Corica has been given an additional two game ban after he was dismissed in Sydney’s Hyundai A-League clash against the Newcastle Jets for abusing referee Matthew Breeze.

The Football Federation of Australia handed Corica an extra one game suspension to go with the mandatory one-match suspension for being issued a red card for foul and abusive language towards a match official.

FFA officials suspended the second of the two extra games leaving Corica to walk a tightrope until the finals series.

Corica will now not be available for the reigning A-League champions until they take on the Queensland Roar FC in round seven.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC boss Terry Butcher is expecting his team to get their title defence back on track when they take on the New Zealand Knights at North Harbour Stadium on Thursday night.
