Carbone to replace Dwight
35-year-old Italian striker Benito Carbone is keen to make his mark on Sydney FC and become the long term successor to Dwight Yorke.
Carbone has already begun training under Sydney coach Terry Butcher and hopes to secure a long term contract having agreed to a four game guest stint for the reigning A-League champions.
Carbone who has played for a host of English Premier league teams including, Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford City, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough said that he was fit and keen to prove that he still has a lot to offer.
"This is my first time in Australia, the A-League interests me. If I can help make it more exciting then I will be happy," he added.
Carbone could make his A-League debut as early as Sunday when Sydney FC hosts the Newcastle Jets at Aussie Stadium.
